The AP Case Update
—
Sounds like the AP saw an opportunity to make some money. Hopefully some good art will come out of the new relationship.
The two sides have also agreed to work together going forward with the Hope image and share the rights to make the posters and merchandise bearing the Hope image and to collaborate on a series of images that Fairey will create based on AP photographs.
And, also from Shepard:
It’s not the bullet that has my name on it that worries me. It’s the one that says ‘To whom it may concern.’
His alternative taglines were apparently:
WHY DO I NEED A GUN?… TO PROTECT MYSELF FROM THE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO TAKE MY GUNS AWAY!
and
WHAT DO YOU MEAN AMERICANS WON’T ADOPT THE METRIC SYSTEM?… WE USE 9MM’S ALL THE TIME!
Say what you will; I quite admire the man.
